Lift and lower the parachute with the group

PK, K-2OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For young students who let go of the parachute, run under it at the wrong time, or do not lift with the group, so they miss a favorite group movement game. Fit depends on observation, not age.

Baseline
Score 10 cues: moved with the group, moved late, or let go. Note whether noise or crowding causes letting go.
Tips
Parachute games build shoulder strength and timing with peers. A handle loop helps students with weak grasp.
Limits
Group size and noise vary; note them.

Data collection

An adult observes and records the defined behavior during a specified activity.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, during a parachute game with 6 to 12 children holding the edge, the student will hold the edge with both hands and lift and lower the parachute on the cue with the group independently in at least 7 of 10 opportunities, across 3 consecutive weekly sessions, as measured by direct observation collected 10 cues per parachute session.

Baseline: 2 of 10 opportunities.

  • Met: Observable behavior. Stated as an action.

  • Met: Condition. Stated.

  • Met: Unit fits the behavior. Opportunities fits this behavior.

  • Met: Explicit criterion. Number and unit stated.

  • Met: Mastery rule and schedule. Both stated.

  • Met: Method produces the metric. Direct observation gives opportunities data.

  • Met: Review timeframe. Stated.

  • Met: Baseline and target compatible. Same unit, change in the right direction.

  • Met: Aligned with area of need. Still about Physical Fitness & PE Participation.

  • Met: Level of support. Defined.

  • Met: Blanks filled in. Nothing left to fill in.

Checks structure and wording only. Whether the goal fits the student is the team's call.
