Leave a call-in voicemail or text by the rule
When to use this goal
For working students who text a coworker, post on social media, or send a vague message when absent, at a workplace whose rule names a set channel (voicemail, text to the manager, or an app). Present levels, not grade, decide fit.
- Baseline
- Run scenarios with different rules and record which channel the student uses and what the message includes. Collect the real workplace rule from the employer before setting the target. Use practice scenarios first, then real workplace moments once the student has a job or work experience placement, and agree with the employer or job coach on who records real events.
- Tips
- Score an opportunity correct only when the channel matches the rule and the message has all four parts. Save the rule and a template message in the student's phone. Pair with tn-ef-011 for live calls.
- Limits
- Does not judge whether missing the shift was necessary. Real absences are infrequent, so expect most data from practice.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, when the student must miss or be late for a shift and the supervisor does not answer or the workplace rule names a text or app, the student will use the channel the workplace rule names and leave a message with their name, the shift, the reason and when they will be in independently in at least 5 of 6 opportunities, across 3 consecutive data collection periods, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected every two weeks.

- Record up to 6 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
