Pick shift tasks from a job coach's menu

9-12OpportunitiesTemplateReview and individualize before use. How templates are made
When to use this goal

For students in work-based learning who can do several tasks at the site but always wait for the job coach to assign them. Present levels in communication decide whether the menu uses words, photos or both.

Baseline
Offer the menu for 5 shifts and record whether the student chose and announced a plan without the job coach assigning tasks. Note if the same tasks are always picked; that is a preference worth recording.
Tips
Every task on the menu must be one the site really needs done that day. Job coaches record the data and fade their presence at check-in as choices become routine.
Limits
Sites with only one task cannot offer choices. Choosing tasks is not the same as doing them well; pair with vocational task goals.

Goal

By the annual IEP review date, at the start of a work-based learning shift, given a menu of the tasks available that day, the student will choose the tasks for the shift and their order, then tell the job coach or supervisor the plan independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, for 3 consecutive weeks, as measured by direct observation collected at each shift, summarized weekly.
