Self-check a routine on a tablet photo checklist
When to use this goal
For older students with significant support needs who complete familiar routines (setting up a work area, a hygiene routine at school, packing a bag for a community outing) but miss steps, and who can use a tablet. Present levels decide the number of steps and whether photos or short video clips work better.
- Baseline
- Record five routines with the tablet available and no prompts. For each, note whether the student opened the checklist, marked steps, and caught missed steps. Teach the tablet itself first if the student cannot open the app.
- Tips
- Each routine is one opportunity; met means every step checked and any missed step completed before reporting done. Photograph the student's own materials in the real setting. Use age-matched images and a device peers might carry.
- Limits
- Measures checking a routine, not learning the steps; a step the student cannot do needs teaching. Device charging and access can interrupt data.

Goal
By the annual IEP review date, after completing a familiar routine of 5 to 8 steps, with a photo checklist on a tablet, the student will swipe through the photo checklist, tap each step as done, and complete any missed step before reporting the job done independently in at least 4 of 5 opportunities, across 3 consecutive weeks of data, as measured by opportunity-by-opportunity data collected daily, summarized weekly.

- Record up to 5 opportunities per session, matching the goal's denominator.
- Define in advance what counts as an opportunity so every data collector records the same thing.
- Count only + marks toward the criterion unless the goal specifies prompted responses.
